Jury Duty

Ivey’s encourages TM’s to fulfill their civic responsibilities by serving jury duty when required. Team Members may request unpaid jury duty leave for the length of absence. Qualified (1 calendar year of service), full-time (consistently recording 32 hours or more) are entitled to up to 2 days of straight time pay.  This pay will not count towards overtime in the same manner that other benefit pay does not.  If desired, TM’s may use any available paid time off as well (for example, vacation benefits).

Team Members must show the jury duty summons to their Supervisor as soon as possible so that the Supervisor may make arrangements to accommodate their absence. Of course, TM’s are expected to report for work whenever the court schedule permits.

Either Ivey’s or the TM may request an excuse from jury duty if, in Ivey’s judgment, the TM’s absence would create serious operational difficulties.

Ivey’s will continue to provide health insurance benefits until the end of the month in which the unpaid jury duty leave begins. At that time, Team Members will become responsible for the full costs of these benefits if they wish coverage to continue. When the TM returns from jury duty, benefits will again be provided by Ivey’s, according to the applicable plans.
